The sad news is out and yes it is true, UFC fighter Kimbo Slice who was born Kevin Ferguson, is dead at the age of 42. This comes as a shock to the MMA world. Slice was rushed to Fort Lauderdale’s Northwest Medical Center from his South Florida home on Monday afternoon.
He later died in the hospital. The Bahamian-American heavyweight had been scheduled for a rematch with James Thompson at London’s Bellator 158 on July 16th. Slice was 5-2-1 as a professional mixed martial artist. He also had seven pro boxing matches and was 7-0 with six knockouts.
He earned the first name ‘Kimbo’ from a childhood nickname and ‘Slice’ when he left a large cut on his then opponent Big D. In turn, the Internet and his fans started calling him Slice.
Kimbo Slice leaves behind a wife and six children.
What I find weird is how Muhammad Ali, another heavyweight boxer passed away just this past weekend on June 3rd at the age of 72.
May they both rest in peace.
